  • Indications
  1. Aortic Dissection risk assessment
  • Criteria
  1. Score 1: High Risk Predisposing factors (past medical history, Family History)
    1. Marfan Syndrome (or other Connective Tissue Disease)
    2. Family History of aortic disease
    3. Aortic valve disease
    4. Recent aorta manipulation
    5. known Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm
  2. Score 1: High Risk Pain characteristics (and other HPI)
    1. Sudden-onset
    2. Tearing, ripping or sharp Chest Pain
    3. Radiation to the back
  3. Score 1: High Risk Exam Features
    1. Perfusion deficit (Asymmetric Pulses or arm systolic Blood Pressure)
    2. Focal neurologic deficit
    3. New Aortic Insufficiency murmur (early Diastolic Murmur)
    4. Hypotension or shock
  • Interpretation
  1. High Risk Findings that indicate CTA Chest (or other evaluation of Aortic Dissection)
    1. Score 2-3 Criteria present
    2. Score 0-1 Criteria present AND D-Dimer >500 ng/ml FEU (>250 ng/ml DDU)
